Looking for tutoring support for your child in Washington, D.C.?
Angela has been helping children discover their love of reading for years.
She starts with an Interest Interview. In this interview she will listen for the child’s passion areas and assess the child’s current reading level. She uses formal and informal methods to conduct the assessment.
Then, she will map out a customized curriculum where she will draw on her library of hundreds of children’s books and activities to provide the child with a structured, but fun, learning experience. Sessions can run from 30-60 minutes, depending on the child.
She will often include hands-on activities such as cooking (reading recipes), music (reading lyrics) and drama (reader’s theater). These activities help the child understand the meaning behind the words, and why there is a benefit in being a strong reader.
Children thrive under this method because they know that their interests and unique talents are valued.
